David Bruce Peek

David Bruce Peek, age 67, of Eldorado, Illinois, formerly of Galatia, passed away on Sunday, January 18, 2026, in Evansville, Indiana.

David was born on February 28, 1958, in East Chicago, Indiana, to the late Maurice Peek, Sr. and Patricia McFarland Peek. He spent much of his life in southern Illinois, where he was known for his deep love for family and the special connections he maintained throughout his life.

Surviving David are his four children, Jennifer Peek, Derrick Peek, Krystal Peek, and Ceciellia Peek, and their mother, Mary Mitchell, a special person who always held a place in his heart. He is also survived by several grandchildren and great-grandchildren who brought him great joy.

Also surviving are his sisters, Tammy (Bob) Oliver, Phyllis Peek, and Karen (Dale) Mattingly, and his brothers, Maurice Peek, Jr. and Amos Peek.

David was preceded in death by his parents; his daughter, Valerie Jean Peek; his granddaughter, Makenzie Lee Bradley (“Biscuit”); his grandson, Clayton Andrew Eugene Smith; his uncles, Gene McFarland and Woodrow McFarland; his sister, Cynthia Carney; and his brothers, Bill Peek, John Peek, and Martin Peek.

Funeral services will be held Friday, January 23, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Sloan Funeral Home. Visitation will take place Thursday evening, January 22, 2026, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., also at the funeral home. Burial will follow services at Tate’s Chapel Cemetery in Galatia, Illinois.
