Loveta May Burnett

Loveta May Burnett, 82 of Galatia, went home peacefully to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Monday, February 16, 2026 at the Parkway Manor Nursing Home in Marion, IL, surrounded by her family. She left behind a legacy of unwavering faith, kindness, and devotion that will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her. 

Loveta was born in Harrisburg to the late Jewell and Fern (Rose) Jackson. She was married to Kirk Burnett on October 25, 1968. They were married for 57 years. 

She found great joy in playing the piano and singing at church and was a devoted and active member of her church. In her younger years she enjoyed gardening and was a talented seamstress. She loved spending time with her family and faithfully devoted herself to her church family. 

Besides her husband, Loveta is survived by three sons; Tim (Sandy) Tuttle of Harrisburg, IL, Mike Burnett of New Burnside, IL, Shannon (Monica) Burnett of Raleigh, IL, nine grandchildren; Tonya (Peter) Barringer of Newburgh, IN, Tyler (Makenzie) Tuttle of Harrisburg, IL, Judd (Jamie) Burnett of Creal Springs, IL, Jessica (Bryan) Waters of Vienna, IL, Savannah (Brandon) Casey of Vienna, IL, Channa Burnett of New Burnside, IL, Caitlin (Charlie) Abner of Raleigh, IL, Nathan Burnett of Franklin, TN, Brandon (Emilie) Burnett of Ozark, MO, eighteen great-grandchildren, and one sister, Loretta Patterson of Harco, IL. 

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers Oral Jackson and Othner Jackson, and a sister Letha Evans. 

Funeral Services will be held on Friday, February 20, 2026, at 12 o’clock at Grace Baptist Church in Raleigh, IL, with visitation Friday morning from 11 a.m. until funeral time at the church. Burial will be at the Hebron Cemetery in Broughton, IL. 

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to mission fund at Grace Baptist Church.
